A Brief Introduction

The Society of St. Joseph Hospital, Hoshangabad had a very humble beginning in the year 1989 for dispensing medical and nursing care to the ailing poor suffering from various diseases. The Archbishop of Bhopal, Rt. Rev. Dr. Eugene Dsouza, blessed the Hospital on 19th March 1989. Considering the increased number of poor patients and the need of skilled and dedicated nurses, Franciscan Clarist Sisters of Amala Province Bhopal started the School of Nursing on 8th September 1997with an intake of 25 GNM students under the society of St. Joseph Hospital Hoshangabad, in the Diocese of Bhopal.

St. Joseph’s College of Nursing started in 2011 with an annual intake of 40 BSc Nursing students. It is affiliated to Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur, recognized by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi (Reg. No: 18-23/2001-INC) as well as the Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council, Bhopal, approved by Department of Medical Education, Govt.of. M P. At present St Joseph’s College of Nursing has an intake capacity of 40 BSc Nursing students and 50 GNM students. The Society has its own hospital. St. Joseph Hospital has 150 beds with facilities for Medical, Surgical, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Burns, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dental, ICCU, ICU and NICU services. It has two well equipped Operation Theatres, Laboratory, Blood Bank and Pathology, Pharmacy, X-Ray and Ultrasound Departments.
